Hetrotopia, a word originally coined by French philosopher Michel Foucault, refers to the existence of spaces within spaces that take on other worldly dimensions. This series of large format portraits were shot on large format film within the Assistens Kirkegaard area of the busy Nørrebro suburb of Copenhagen during 2023 and 2024. Outside the walls of the kirkegaard (cemetery) exists a bustling lively city, yet the kirkegaard provides an oasis of stillness and contemplative energy removed from its surrounding. This series was exhibited at Dark Gallery Copenhagen during May of 2024.
